Cotton sweaters can usually be hand-washed or machine-washed in cold water. To dry, lay flat. It might need to be ironed. If that's the case, iron it while it's still wet.
Cashmere sweaters are often made of goat hair mixed with wool or synthetic fibers. Follow the directions on the label once more. Cashmere may usually be washed in cold water on the delicate cycle. After washing, roll it in a towel to press out excess water, reshape it, and flat dry it away from direct sunlight or heat.Click here
Acrylic fibers are man-made textiles that stretch when heated. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for washing (usually in warm water). Acrylic sweaters should be air dried on a level surface or tumble dried on low heat after being machine washed. Which is preferable will be specified on the care label. If you must iron a sweater, do so inside out and on low heat, being cautious not to strain it when pressing out any wrinkles.Click here
Even though the label says it's OK, don't wash chenille sweaters in the washing machine if you want them to stay soft. The rubbing induced by machine agitation can harm fibers, causing them to snag or feel rough. Rather, wash from the inside out.
Wool sweaters can be washed in some cases, but not in others. Look at the label. If you must wash it, do it on the gentlest cycle possible and in cold water. Do not twitch. To dry, lay flat. Furthermore, not all wools are created equal. Shetland and Merino wools can typically be washed on the gentlest cycle in cold water. They may wash if they are agitated.
Some silk sweaters can be washed in cold water on the gentle cycle and dried flat. However, it may need to be ironed thereafter. If that's the case, use a cool iron setting.
An angora sweater is made from a combination of rabbit fur and synthetic fibers. Because it's prone to shrinking, you should consider dry cleaning it. If it states it can be washed on the label, don't put it in the machine. Instead, hand wash with a gentle fabric wash like Woo light and dry flat.Click here
