The establishment of garment industry in different parts of Bangladesh started in 1971 with the aim of meeting the domestic demand. In 1986, the garment industry expanded due to the personal efforts of private entrepreneurs. In 1985, this expansion became more widespread. At that time 125 establishments were established as garment factories. Due to the increase in demand in the international market, due to the efforts of domestic entrepreneurs, the number of garment factories has now expanded to 2,200 and these are mainly 100% export oriented. These industries have created employment for about 12 lakh men and women. Eighty-five percent of the 1.2 million workers are women. The importance of these organizations is immense in the field of oil for the backward women of the country. As a result of the development of these industries, 56 percent of the country's gross national income is coming from the world market by exporting readymade garments.

Because the cheap labor available here is unmatched in any other country in the world. .In particular, women make up almost half of the population in Bangladesh, and these unemployed women can be used to bring success in the advancement of the garment industry. If the power crisis and political instability can be overcome, then the future of the garment industry in this country is bright — it can be said without hesitation.



As mentioned earlier, 84 percent of Bangladesh's national income comes from the garment industry. And this garment industry has provided employment to about 12 lakh men and women in Bangladesh. The role of this industry in reducing the unemployment problem of the country is very important to consider. Therefore, it is necessary to keep this industry alive and expand it in the interest of the country and the nation. Then the garment industry will be able to play a very important role in the country's economy and employment.
